The Miracle of Regathering

The Jewish prophet Ezekiel wrote of the future return of his people to their ancestral homeland 2500 years ago. It is a true miracle that the Jewish people who have suffered exile, persecution, forced assimilation and near annihilation have not only survived, but regathered into their eternal homeland. This blog is intended to stir hearts and minds to contemplate the importance of this modern miracle and to generate dialogue about current cultural, geopolitical and spiritual issues that impact us ALL.

2012: A Year of Change Like No Other In History

Much time has passed since my last blog.  To all my friends who have encouraged more frequent posts, I so very much appreciate your vote of confidence...and your patience.  It has been a very intentional hiatus on my part.

Many interesting events have occured in our world since my last discussion point.  On the other hand, not much has changed.  Israel continues to struggle with "neighbors" whose primary purpose is her annihilation.  The world cries foul when an apartment building goes up in Israel's capitol of Jerusalem...and then stands eerily silent as an innocent Jewish family of 5 gets slaughtered like animals in their sleep.

The current US Secretary of State accuses Israel of intolerance to women's rights in a silly attempt to malign its religious foundation as being undemocratic.  On the very same day, 25 Christian Copts, mostly women and children, are savagely murdered and raped in "newly democratic" Egypt, a fact never mentioned by the Secretary.

The US President voices concern over the possibility of Israel attacking Iran preemptively and its potential effect on the US, while he sets policy that stands mostly idle by postponing significant economic sanctions on Iran - giving tacit permission for the Ayatollah's regime to continue developing a nuclear arsenal.

As I said, nothing much has changed.

But, as I have spent much time contemplating over the last 4 months looking for direction and much of that with my head bowed, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that 2012 will be a year like no other in history.  And my goal over the next several months is to report it through the eyes of one who may see things a bit differently than others.

All conscientious bloggers struggle over the tension between opinion journalism and factual reporting.  And, it is a significant struggle indeed - as the two make strange bedfellows at times.  As most of you know, I wear my passion for truth on one sleeve and for my people and the nation that has up until now guaranteed our survival - on the other.  The struggle has been a difficult one, and not without its bumps and bruises.

As we move forward, however, deeper into this year of great significance - 2012, I will be making some bold predictions...something I have hesitated to do in the recent past.  I will continue to report facts and with those facts, opine heartily - but always with a caveat of giving you a glimpse into what I believe the sands of time will carve out in the near future.

Much of the world will be distracted by economic woes, a presidential election and the waxing price of oil, while all of our futures will change before our very eyes as the middle east becomes a powder keg of volatility and extremism.  Decisions will be made, sides will be drawn as never before.

Watch and see - and pay very careful attention, my friends.  Because your future depends on it.  Knowing the truth, the reality behind the facade of world events, will make all the difference to you.  Why?  Because, as we move further into 2012, you, yourself, will be forced to make some very important decisions as to what side of the ledger you are on.  And these may very well be life and death decisions.

"Oh no, Robitshek has gone off the deep end!"

No, don't worry.  The Ezekiel Blog will not become fodder for conspiracy theorists.  Just a place to report the facts and to encourage you to expand your ability to apply those facts to possible future events.  I would encourage more feedback and dialogue...but will continue to retain the right to screen out the chaff while encouraging the wheat.  I hope you do the same with other sources of "news and opinion" - always looking to your hearts to distinguish truth from fiction...while allowing your mind to imagine all the future possibilities.

Here's to 2012: I encourage you to "Be sober, be vigilant."

  1. D. Great to see you're back!

As usual I couldn't agree with you more. Democracy has no instant recipe and as such, any revolutions made over the Arab spring (Welcome as they may be) will be far from stable or result in real democratic regime over 2012. Tribal behavior and rivalry will take years to fade if at all, Old grievances Will be "hashed out", New alliances will be formed and old ones will be challenged. As for women, well, I wouldn't worry about their situation in Israel just yet.

What can I say.. TiTME (This is The Middle East) mate, have a nice day :)
